The kind of headset you'll want will depend on the hardware you currently have. There are three main platforms that will work with your headset; Mobile devices, a games console and PC.

When starting out consider what you’ll be using VR for; vr experiences, tours or serious gaming are the common segments in VR thus far.

Mobile devices offer up fantastic virtual experiences though they are limited in power and limited by mobiles natural processor speeds. That said, phones such as the Google Pixel and Samsung’s Galaxy range offer up truly immersive VR experiences. If you are considering a vr headset for a mobile device and have the luxury of being able to choose a new mobile phone, we’d encourage you to go with the hardware you are most used to. Remember, the gear for a mobile has to be compatible from manufacture.

A market leader in the console department is the PSVR with Sony’s headset that plugs straight in to your console. The PS4 Headset offers up stream less viewing and a truly immersive VR experience.

A powerful PC is a must if you want to enter the VR world with either the Oculus Rift headset or the HTC Vive headset. VR games are at cutting-edge levels for PC and these headsets offer up a truly fantastic Virtual experience no matter what the game.
